Discovering The Beach: Leo-Cap's Edition.

Ever seen the movie The Beach starring the chameleon-like actor Leonardo DiCaprio? Some seem to either love it or hate it. I am one of those people...that loved it. Once "Porcelain" by Moby started to play during one of the first few scenes Mr. DiCaprio discovered this - - what's the right word...gem-like, breathtaking, possibly the most perfect island...I've ALWAYS wanted to find out EXACTLY where the film took place.

And so...the journey began on Wednesday February 29th.

1) Took a plane from Bangkok to Phuket (it's really not what it sounds like...actually pronounced as Poo-ket); Duration 1 hr

2) Mini Bus from Phuket Airport to Phuket town aka Ferry Dock; Duration 45 mins

3) Boat ride from Phuket Town to Ko Phi Phi Don Island; Duration 1.5 hrs

Side note: See man in gray top and brown hair? Crazy story. His arm was gored...yes, gored by a Boar!! Random that I happened to sit next to him because I still wear my father's Wild Boar tooth necklace.

Moving on...

4) Had to stay on Phi Phi Don Island for one night and continue my journey the following day as a result of missing the next boat ride to "The Beach"...And, as always, I attract challenges..

Not being able to find an available room..

Getting lost :(

Then, having to walk on the very rocky, very slippery beach shore for about 1 mile. With the relentless sun beating down my barely fed, barely hydrated poor...Tired body, I continued on to find any room. I listened to the Thai woman telling me there was a hotel nestled 'over there' - - so I went 'over there'...

Along my hike, I encountered crabs..

Eeek! As if that wasn't enough to freak me out...Giant Red Ants were crawling on a few rocks I had to climb on to get to cross over certain areas, one of my sandals broke (I knew I shouldn't have bought Forever 21 flip flops), and take my full-length skirt off to have full climbing control.

DAY 2

1) An All Day trip to several islands...
Snorkeling.

2) Monkey'ing around...with, you guessed it, MONKEYS!
On Monkey Island, that is!

And..

Last, but certainly not the least...(insert dramatic drumroll here)

Maya Bay

Needless to say, this was a phenomenal trip and wish I can just simply, take this beach back with me and plop it right in my backyard. Oh wait, I don't have a backyard. You know what I mean...

Have yourself a Majestic March!

Yours truly,

Mscathy.
