Who hates Cardio?

I do!! Maybe it's because running never appealed to me due to the boring routine of it. Maybe it's because being on a treadmill or elliptical machine for 20 minutes plus bores the heck out of me. And maybe it's because I don't an MP3 or Ipod to motivate me during my workouts. If you're like me, you might benefit from HIIT which stands for High Intensity Interval Training.

What's so great about it? You can do your strength training/toning while maintaining a high heart rate. Therefore, you're killing two birds with one stone: the dreaded cardio AND toning at the same time! Below is just one example of HIIT:

It's also great when you're crunched for time. Try it out and let me know what you think! Happy Friday! :)

  1. I usually watch TV shows when working out. I agree, if I didn't, cardio is pretty boring. Have a great weekend!

    1. That is a great tip and something that I do periodically. Sometimes I also like to do sets of pushups, squats, and situps during commercial times! Hope you're having an awesome weekend so far :)

  2. I love the elliptical ... with a good book! However, I had to cancel my gym membership a couple of years ago so cardio is hard to get at home. Like you, I do exercises that get my heart rate up while toning. I do this with videos similar to the above that I find on hulu.com

    Have a great weekend!

    1. The elliptical is great because it does a pretty good job kicking my buns. I like to flip through a magazine if I'm on a machine but if I have nothing, I need something else more that's more dynamic. I guess you can say I'm quite selective when it comes to staying motivated to workout! lol!

Have a lovely weekend you two!! :)

  4. I tried HIIT in the spring at the group fitness center, SUCH A GREAT WORKOUT! Of course, I was out of breath the entire time and clutching for my chest afterwards, but the reward is amazing!

    1. I hear you! Over where I'm at, it's an average of 100F degrees so it's tough to do cardio without a gym. Aren't they great? I love their vids! :) Happy weekend Angie!

    1. Right??? You're right, the results are soo worth it. Sometimes it hurts more to give up than to keep running (a quote I heard somewhere) :)

  8. Hahaha I'm the opposite :P I love cardio purely because I can just get into a rhythm and not have to think about what exercise I should do next (also, the weights area of the gym scares me)! I also can't wait to start running, but I don't think I'd ever use a treadmill. They are definitely the most boring piece of equipment in a gym :P

Hope you had a great weekend, Cathy! :) Rhi xx

    1. Rhi! I wish I was like you! I want to get into a rhythm but just can't. One day though..one day, I'm not giving up! No need to be scared of the weight room..everyone just does their own thing :) Plus if you ask someone, I'm sure they'll help you out and clue you in! I did that before and people are surprisingly helpful!

  9. I'm the same way with cardio. I've been doing plyometrics with Jillian Michaels, and she switches up the routine all the time so its not boring.
